Introverts, specifically INFJs, are not incredibly common; therefore, it is not always that we are understood.

Common characteristics of introverts, especially INFJs:

1. One of our favorite things in the world is loving people, but we are equally terrified of initiating conversation, at the same. Oh, the irony.

2. Surface conversations are brutal. We crave embracing the deeper side of life. We are so viscerally aware of the complexity of human nature, and that is the conversational component we really want to jump to. It may sound rather strange, but sorry, it's mostly true! We like to form relationships with people on a level that transcends that which is associated with the superficial masks people too often put on.

3. When we love people, we love them deeply. We show that we care through hugs, helping, and our undivided attention.

4. Sometimes it is quite a challenge to accurately and effectively articulate our thoughts verbally. Pen and paper, plus a bit of time to think? No big deal. When it comes to the art of spoken word, however, chaos often ensues. We formulate in-depth, eloquent responses inside of our heads, but when the actual moment comes to respond, seldom will any of it come out in the manner in which we intended. Sometimes, it will not make much sense, and unfortunately, when this happens, we reflect and reanalyze the failure far too long. This is a cycle, and because it yields no reinforcement, but rather punishment (embarrassment and shame), it is likely for subsequent conversational withdrawal to occur--at least that which is involuntary. This is why we do not like do be called out in a classroom-type setting. We need adequate preparation time, but also would prefer to write a response.

5. Our thoughts are not commonly linear.

6. Sometimes we remember small details about people. But because this may seem creepy to others who may not understand the brain of an introvert, we "forget," when reminded.

7. Yes, awkwardness is inevitable. Just embrace it.

8. We love giving compliments, but get really uncomfortable and embarrassed when receiving them. Don't expect a typical reaction. Just know that it is appreciated.

8. We love to listen. It is typically preferred over speaking. If you need to vent, we are your people.

9. Constant interaction can be mentally draining. When we turn things down, it is usually not because we do not like you. Time alone to recuperate is essential, though, and a priority for most introverts.

10. Quietly observing--that's our style.

11. Our minds are mysterious and perplexing places. So many thoughts, all the time--it is certainly loud in there. What goes on is often inexplicable--even for ourselves.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
