Out of school? Bored? Nothing to do on your days off from work or just nothing to do? Look no further for some economical ways to keep your summer as fun as possible, and how to make the most of every situation!
1. No-Additional-Cost Ideas
A friend once told me about the idea of nothing being free, some things just have no additional cost. So in the sake of avoiding any smart asses out there, here are the perfect no additional cost ideas for summer fun (besides gas or any other necessary fees).
- Play board games
- Go hammocking
-Go for a hike at a local park
- Window shopping at the most expensive store you can find (I'm a firm believe that window shopping is where the best inspiration for DIY creations can be found)
- Have a picnic
- Watch the sunset at a local park/lake/reservoir
- Make it a goal to finish an entire series/ video game with your best friend
- Go to the library
- Go rollerblading or bike riding or skateboarding around town/ on a public trail
- Visit the humane society
2. Minimal Cost Ideas
Here are some ideas when you have a little extra walking around money and your "Sorry! I'm broke!" excuse won't work (unless you want to save it as a poor college student).
- Go thrifting, either at Goodwill or an antique store in your town.
- Take a day trip to a cool/fancy part of town and just explore the restaurants/stores down there.
- Redbox movie marathon
- Visit a state or national park for the day
- Try a new restaurant or go to an old favorite and order something new off the menu
- Go on a night drive (technically could be put in the no additional cost category except you're definitely gonna need to refill the tank after this one!!)
3. The Screw It I'm Gonna Do It Category
Some fun ideas where the memories will definitely be worth the chunk of change.
- Go to a concert
- Go on a random day trip to a neighboring city/state
- Go to the zoo (Because here in Indianapolis OUR zoo costs $18 for an adult)
- Try out a completely overpriced restaurant just because you can (you can probably dress up to this one too!)
-Visit an amusement park
- Say "yes" to everything for one day and see where it leads you (I'm not sure if this will be expensive or not but I'd rather play it safe than sorry and prepare for the worst)
- Rent a boat or canoe at a local lake/reservoir for the day
