Keeping physically fit is a real challenge in today's modern society. People are constantly distracted by phones, television and games that we forget how refreshing it can feel to exercise daily. This list won't so much be over how to exercise, as it will be how to motivate yourself to exercise. I am by no means to a physical level of Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, or Richard Simmons, but I do enjoy working out and can give you some tips on how to maintain a schedule.
1. Find Motivation
The most important step is finding motivation. Feeling forced to work out purely because you have to is illegal somewhere in the Geneva Convention. I just haven't found it yet. Whether if it's to look a certain way, feel a certain way, or to get to shape to accomplish a certain thing, motivation is ultimately what will make you gladly torture yourself by working out every day.
2. Find a Friend or Friends to Work Out With
At first, going to the gym can be bumbling around from machine to machine feeling results that quite frankly aren't happening. I know this because that was my entire first two weeks of religiously going to the gym. It wasn't until I met a couple friends who went there that were experienced in working out that I was taught the effective and totally not at all uncomfortable ways of being fit. Plus, going to the gym for an hour or so without a friend can be more boring and trying than a C Span marathon. You just want to change it to Comedy Central or AMC. C&W also has quite a bit of entertaining shows and you'd be quite amazed to find Lifetime movies are actually pretty good sometimes. The second part of this analogy has something to do with the gym, I just haven't put it together yet. Anyway, going to the gym with friends is an effective way to pass the time with fun jokes and conversation. It helps you get your mind off the actual senseless torture that is the gym and working out, which helps in the end to further endure.
3. Have Fun Doing It
Even if you find the proper motivation and friends, it is still vital to have fun going. Otherwise, you'll just end up hating yourself. The best way to continue to have fun going is to start seeing results. This can take a while depending on who you are or how you're built. There are companies that offer pills to aid in working out. I do not recommend taking these, as their Brobdingnagian and enormous sizes are protested by horses and elephants alike as being too inhumane to swallow. Whether you want to take these pills or not is personal preference, but in the end it's too see results. When these results become more apparent, it becomes much more amusing to work out. It even can become addicting to the point where your friends and family may put you on the TV show Intervention. Despite this, working out will feel pleasant and natural, even to the point where you may feel worse if you miss the gym for a day.
In summation, it is important to find reasons to go to the gym. You will ultimately and eventually feel better about life in general. Stress will not encumber you as much and it will make your mood lighter throughout the day. I hope this article has taught you something and maybe you'll start to go to the gym too. If you are reading this and already go to the gym on a regular basis, please stop going to the gym. Do this for a few months or so. After that, read this article again and start going to the gym, that way I have the false satisfaction of helping you. Please comment if you actually end up doing this, as I will feel great about myself as a writer if I can make someone do that. But in all seriousness, being active will greatly help you out in life from a health perspective as well as making your mind feel clearer and more concentrated. Life will become just that much better and you'll be closer to getting the opportunity to play David Hasselhoff in the (hopefully someday) upcoming biopic of his life.
