Facebook Needs to Take a Back Seat
We always tend to think that we are at the hardest part of life, and that moving forward, it will all get easier. Life, as I found out the hard way, does not work that way. Each stage has it's perks and difficulties, but overall, it doesn't get any easier. Working hard at a younger age helps set you up for the future, and also leaves you with fewer regrets. For instance, the thirty minutes spent browsing Facebook each day could be put to better use by either studying, socializing with friends, or pursuing a passion. As we all know, there isn't a time machine to take us back and fix our mistakes in the past, we can, however, implement those changes now and leave no room for regrets in the future!
Speak Up Because Your Opinion Matters
I often find myself looking back at my high school self and wondering why I was such a push over. I would always go with the flow, and think that my opinions and thoughts didn't matter in the whole scheme of things. After going to college, however, I discovered a hidden voice that was trying to finally get some air and breath! When I was the in the eleventh grade, for instance, I had decided that I wanted to pursue journalism instead of medicine. As you all may have guessed, the people around me discouraged this seemingly absurd idea, and having doubted my opinions and choices in the past, I had decided that it was a moment of weakness and that medicine was the only true profession. Fast forward one and a half years, and I have happily jumped of off the premed boat. Taking countless humdrum and drab (in my opinion) biology and chemistry classes made me realize that I was living someone else's passion, and I had known exactly what I was doing the moment I had ignored my own conscience. All in all, if I had stuck to my guns in the first place, I would have saved a year, and maybe even gone to a different college altogether!
Enjoy Each and Every Moment
At the end of the day, each phase of your life will fly by, so don't live your life looking at the future and hating the present! Stop complaining about a test, homework assignment, or soccer practice, because you will miss it in the future. I clearly remember walking down a hall with my friends and telling her that I would never miss high school, and that I couldn't wait to go to college. Looking back, I would do anything to retract those words and spend time cherishing high school instead of complaining about it! College is tough, and high school is nothing in comparison, take my word for it!
