I love thanksgiving. Though some people like to dwell on the history of it and ruin the holiday, I love the idea of having a holiday just to remember why you're thankful. Now some of you will argue that I should do that every day of the year, but let's be real here we all know that isn't going to happen. When you get caught up with your stressful life you forget to be thankful that you even have a life. With that being said, here are just a few things I think the good Lord for.
1. My parents
My parents are really my rock. They have encouraged me with all my crazy adventures from color guard to powerlifting to joining a sorority. They have giving my sister and me everything we could ever need and want. They are the reason I am the woman I am today. I'm seriously thankful for those two people in my life because they always made sure I knew I had their support. They were there for the dance recitals when I came out with my pacifier in my mouth and the soccer games that I sat on the sidelines and cried at. They haven't let their differences ruin moments for my sister and me. Though I may not always agree with them, I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. I love you both and thank you for everything you've done for me.
2. My siblings and their children
Ten years ago if I was writing this I would have said I couldn't stand my siblings and that they're annoying. Now they are my best friends, and most importantly they have kids. I am so thankful to be an aunt to a beautiful little girl and a little boy. Being an aunt is the greatest blessing (mainly because it shows me exactly why I don't wanna be a mom for a longgggg time). Thanks for your kids honestly because I love them and you I guess lol.
3. My grandparents
Honestly, I have the best grandparents hands down (including my angel up in heaven watching down on me). Everything my parents didn't give me, my grandparents did. On my mom and my dad's side they are all the most kind hearted people who give me, my sister and my cousins everything that will spoil us completely. After losing a grandparent it makes you so much more thankful for the ones you have left. Thank you for being the best people in my life. I love you all so much.
So all and all I would say the things I'm focusing on being thankful for this holiday season is family.
