Ironically, even with the intense push for tech advancements our era catalyzes, we forget to push the advancements of the power source for that technology. How barbaric is it that we are still using fossil fuels for our electricity? It's time we put our resources to use instead of destroying them. Here are three reasons to harness the sun in your home.

1. The most obvious reason of them all is the environmental impact of the transition to solar power. As protests of the Fossil Fuels industry rise, there is more innovation in the world of alternative energy. If you believe that Global Warming is a real thing (if not take a trip to the world of education) then you understand that the more we advance in Alternative Energy the better off we are. One in 10 animals and plants will be extinct by the year 2050, this is alarming! I want my Children and their children to experience the beauty of untouched nature. The amount of energy the sun sends towards our earth is 35,000 times the amount the world currently consumes, what reason do we have to continue to burn fossil fuels?

2. No one owns the sun. Talk about free-market. Say goodbye to the days of paying your electric bill, with solar power there are countless economic benefits. Not having to pay your electric bill sounds nice and is obviously a good argument, but how about generating passive income? Upon switching to Solar Panels your house is a power factory. The energy that goes unused from your house can be sold back to the city if you choose! I know what you're thinking, "What if I have no extra energy and I leave all my lights, TVs and fans on 24/7 and actually do not know where my light switch is to turn them off?" Well, you're in luck! You're still connected to the grid IF you really need it, however, most solar users do not. A key set-back most people see in installing Solar Panels is the initial cost, but you shouldn't worry! Solar costs will fall around 40 percent in the next year and there are tax breaks and grants offered by the government to encourage your decision to switch. If that isn't enough, it also raises the value of your house.

3. The Green Jobs Created. The U.S. is currently dragging their feet in the solar race compared to the rest of the world, but this isn't because of technological reasons. U.S. politicians, as always, are siding with the big guys with the big wallets. However, the push from the private sector will catalyze the government push. It is already shown that further investment in alternative energy will create more jobs than the fossil fuel sector.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
