3 New Bands You Should Listen to Right Now: Rock Edition

I'm back with some more music for you! This time I'm gonna get a little crazy. These are three artists/bands you should be listening to Rock Edition!

1. Tiny Moving Parts

This is another band my friend who suggested Keaton Henson told me about in one of his vlogs on YouTube and I thought I'd check them out.

Minnesota-based and formed in 2010, they're a rock band with a lot of energy. Signed to Triple Crown Records, they're a mix of The Story So Far and Blink-182, and they're cute! Look at those happy little faces!

They've toured with You Blew It!, State Champs, and Modern Baseball, which I think is pretty awesome. I'd love to see them live one day.

They have music on iTunes, Spotify and they even have a Bandcamp. Just released their album Celebrate in May. Check these guys out if you like energetic punk.

2. Superheaven

You know, how I found out about these guys is pretty funny. Long story short I sat next to some kid on the bus on the way back from town on Halloween and he was dressed up as a grunge wannabe. I was the only one who seemed to appreciate it so we started talking about bands and he told me about Superheaven.

A grunge revival quartet from Pennsylvania they're gritty, non-stop sound is something you'd listen to after a shitty breakup or after getting into a fight with the parents. I can honestly say I wish I had these guys in my life sooner because I was such an angsty teen. They probably would've helped me channel it a bit better... Or make it worse. Who knows?

They have that emo boy sound that I love so if you like that kind of stuff, check out their latest album Ours Is Chrome that they made while signed under SideOneDummy Records.

3. One Day Waiting

Alright you metal heads, time to get local. From a small town called New Paltz in New York with two EP's out, they're an alternative metal band worth giving a shout out to because I'm always down to support local artists/bands. So far I've met their lead singer and he's super down to earth and since their music actually is really good I figured I'd give them some recognition.

With inspiration from bands like Seether, Korn, Pantera and Sevendust they've made some strides touring around the country with Otep, Fire From the Gods and Doll Skin and they'll be headlining The Chance for a second time this December. So if you're from the Poughkeepsie area, head out. They'll be playing with Evermore, St. Maria, Vision Serpent, Blue Movie and Stealing Deadwood.

An even amount of voice and screaming really gives these guys a unique sound. You should check out their latest release (and all of their music) The Key.

There ya' have it folks. The Rock Edition. Stay tuned for next week's edition of new music!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
