I Tried A Three-Day Juice Cleanse And I Hated It

I was always intrigued by the idea of going on a juice detox, but I figured that since I loved food so much, I'd never be able to actually follow through with it. Then, after a few minutes of contemplating my drastic weight gain, I decided I would give it a shot.

I was so hesitant to try it in the first place because of the extremely high cost of actually buying these juices. Instead of purchasing a kit online, I decided to just go to the nearest Whole Foods and pick out a few of my own. With that being said, I managed to buy four days worth of juice for only $40, which is way cheaper than they are on online.

I drank my first juice that afternoon, finishing it super quickly because it was honestly so delicious. It was a mixture of pineapple, mint, and apple. I finished it around five that evening and that was considered my dinner for that night. Don't get me wrong, I was getting pretty hungry into the later hours, but I managed to power through it until the next morning.

The next day was definitely the worst. I woke up feeling rejuvenated and ready for my next juice, which I must add, was delectable. A passionfruit paradise. I went on with my day, not really noticing the lack of food in my stomach. Until about three in the afternoon. It hit me, and I was shaky, hungry and craving foods I never liked in the first place. I decided to sneak a little snacky snack because I honestly felt like I was going to pass out.

That night, I had one more juice and went to bed feeling pretty decent. The next and last day of the cleanse was pretty similar to the previous day. One juice in the morning, feeling great, and then all of a sudden, hunger hitting again. I made it further along this time, without eating anything until about four or five in the evening.

After eating, I knew that this so-called juice cleanse wasn't for me, at least. The sugar in my blood was spiking and I wasn't getting enough protein from just fruits and veggies. Must I add, I couldn't stop peeing.

From this experience, I've learned that juice cleanses aren't exactly easy. They may make you drop a pound in a week, but who knows if that is long-term or even healthy? I truly believe this is a more "acceptable" way of basically starving yourself, which is never good for your body in the long run. After this cleanse finished, I vowed that instead of cheating my way into losing weight, I would simply just start calorie-counting and eating healthier meals.

And so far, I think I've been doing much better.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

4501
Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
