The first week of classes. It can be the best of times and the worst of times. Sometimes you'll get lucky and all your professors will only go over the syllabus the first day. And then sometimes they'll assign assignments that are due the first week. You might be a little nervous just take a deep breath this week is over before you know it. Here's some thoughts you probably will have this week:

1. When the teacher says the textbook is required.

I really have to pay $50 or more for a book I'm gonna use once? I don't think so I'll just take really good notes. I heard we do not even need the book anyway.

2. When your professor asks you to introduce yourself and share a interesting fact about yourself.

Wait what is my name? Oh my gosh I don't know an interesting fact about myself all I do is sleep and eat! I am totally not prepared for this. What did I do this summer?

3. When the professor finishes going over the syllabus early and starts teaching actual material on the first day.

This is just wrong like who do they think they are? I am not mentally prepared for this! I didn't even bring a pencil or paper, come to think about it I don't even think I brought my brain!

4. When you're running late to class and it's the first day.

I am only a minute late I doubt they started yet. But what if there's no seats left? I am totally going to have to sit in the front now. Crap...

5. When you have nothing to wear.

This makes me look like a hobo. I have to look cute but not too cute, I don't want to look like I tried too much. That's it I am not going.

6. When you just really want it to be Friday already.

Is it Friday yet? I really need it to be the weekend already. My brain has absorbed way too much information this week.

7. When you have an hour or more break between classes.

What am I going to do with all this time? Wonder if anyone else is out of class? Well I guess I have time to get some coffee and creep on people in the university center or I could take a quick nap.

8. When you can't find your classroom.

I have no clue where I am, did they remodel this building cause I am pretty sure it never had this many rooms. I am going to be late looking for this stupid room. That is an acceptable excuse right?

9. When people in front of you walk super slow.

OMG! They walk so slow, I seriously want to stab them. How can they not be in a hurry too? They must be freshmen...

10. when you finally complete the first week of classes.

Give yourself a pat on the back you made it through the first week with only a few breakdowns and thoughts of dropping out to a stripper.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
