8 Thoughts You Have While Driving Home For Winter Break
HOME

It is so crazy that it is already Winter Break. It seems that just yesterday, we were loading up the car and decorating our dorm rooms. College is not easy. There is so much work and stress, but there is also a whole lot of fun that comes with it. The fall semester always seems about 10 times longer than the spring semester, and by the last few weeks, we have all just about had it with our professors and our classes and exams. Then, the day finally comes where it is time to head home for winter break. We pack up our lives, cry saying goodbye to our friends and peace off of our college campus so fast. The ride home whether you go to school 20 minutes away or 20 hours away always feels just as long as the semester felt. Here are the thoughts every college student has while driving home for winter break.

1. PEACE OUT!

It's been a long semester, you blast your music, sip your coffee and give a peace sign to the campus safety man who is waving goodbye to you at the exit of your campus. See you in six weeks, peace out!

2. I feel like I'm forgetting something.

It is totally and completely inevitable but you know that there is no chance that you actually took everything you needed, but you won't remember what it is that you forgot until you are home, 4 hours away and desperately need this item.

3. I totally aced my exams.

You are on top of the world. You just finished your last test and you know you totally aced it, now you're done and can relax, breathe and party for the next six weeks.

4. I'm going to miss my friends.

You get very sad that you're not going to have your best friends living in the same hallway as you to do everything with. Thank god for group messages that almost make you feel like you are all together. Almost.

5. I can't wait to see my dog.

There is nothing better in the whole entire planet than knowing that there's a four-legged best friend waiting for your arrival to give you so many cuddles and puppy kisses for five whole weeks!

6. No, I think I failed all my exams.

About half way through the trip all of the confidence in yourself that you had turns into doubt and you start to stress over your grades even though deep down inside you know that you did just fine.

7. I miss school.

You're not even home yet and you are slightly annoyed with the same old routine you're about to get into and deep down you feel that you already miss being at school.

8. I can't wait to have a home cooked meal.

Because caf food was just not cutting it and at the end of the day, nothing beats a home cooked meal made by mom.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
