10 Thoughts You Have As A Bookworm

Some of us always have our nose in a book. We take pleasure in pulling a book out of our bag when we are at a coffeeshop, waiting for our next class to start or cuddled up in our beds. Here are a few things that bookworms are constantly thinking about.

1. Where is the nearest bookstore?
We bookworms are always looking for the nearest bookstore. It’s impossible to want to leave a place like that. We spend hours in there looking at all the different books we want to get lost in. Starbucks has become a trend in bookstores across the country, which is another reason to not leave. Who doesn’t love a good book and a cup of steaming coffee? The sights and smells of a bookstore are unlike anything else. You can retreat into your book or use it as cover to watch the world around you.

2. I cannot put this book down until I have finished it.
I have this really annoying habit of not putting the book down until I’ve finished it, even if it’s 4 in the morning.

3. What is the next book I should read?
I’m constantly looking for new books to get lost in. Books are my escape from reality and therefore i need them to help me relax and get away from real life at times.

4. If I’m reading, why are you talking to me?
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people try to talk to me when I’m trying to read. Sorry, but chances are I won’t be listening. I will be too absorbed in this other world that I will not be able to hear what you are saying to me.

5. You’ve read that book too?!?
These are my favorite conversations — whether it’s about liking or hating the characters, liking the movie that possibly goes along with the book, having your mind blown that the plot was as crazy as it was. It’s always good to know that others have read and, most likely loved, that book as well. I love talking about the books I’ve read, especially if the ending was not what I expected at all.

6. Why isn't there another book in this series?

This is an issue that we bookworms do come across. Whether it’s because the book ended poorly or because there is still so much that could have been said. Chances are there is another one! You just have to wait for it!

7. Why do I have to wait so long for the next book?
When you start a book, you don’t always realize that there are more in the series or that the author is coming out with more books. Now we play the waiting game, impatiently, of course. This is the time period when you get hooked on a new series or book and *almost* forget about the book you are waiting on.

8. You love some characters, you hate some characters and some stay with you forever.
Bookworms know the feeling of hating a character with all of your being or loving a character so much you wish they were real. There are some characters that you can’t help but think of from time to time because they’ve taught you different things. I grew up with Harry Potter, and maybe it’s because that was the longest, hardest book I had read up to that point, but the characters have stuck with me. They inspired me, they opened up a world that I hadn’t known existed. The Harry Potter series opened up a world of books to me.

9. You might feel guilty about buying certain things, but one thing you will never feel guilty about buying are books
Sometimes you have to convince yourself to buy that new shirt, or you don’t really want to go out for lunch to avoid spending money, but that’s just so you have money for books. I have never regretted buying a book, even the ones that have not been my favorite.

10. You crave that new book feeling.
With all the technology that is out and being used, a lot of people have opted for electronic books on their Kindles or Nooks, but there is just something about holding a new book in your hands and having the new book smell. The feeling, for me, is basically that I’m holding this entirely new world in my hands, and I can’t wait to jump right in.

There are many more thoughts that are constantly going through my head, especially concerning books. If I’ve learned anything over the years is that books open a whole new world to get lost in, and sometimes, that’s exactly what I need. If the stress and real world is too much for you sometimes, try relaxing with a book and keep an open mind.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
