14 Thoughts You Have After Graduating From College

Now what?

This past Sunday, I graduated from college. At first it didn't feel real, but now that I'm sitting at home, searching for jobs and trying to "adult," I miss sitting in living room of my college townhouse, being bored with others. I think that most of us graduates feel the same way, so I've decided to create a list of some universal thoughts that most graduates feel after moving back home.

1. "Now what?"

Unless you're pursuing a Masters degree in the fall, this is the first time in about sixteen years that you aren't a student.

2. "No more breaks?"

Unless you're planning on being a teacher, summer, Christmas, and spring break are no longer valid. Let that sink in.

3. "I'm not within walking distance from all of my friends?"

But at least the group message is still going strong.

4. "I need a job."

Unless you're one of those people who has a plan before graduation - don't talk to me - this is the #1 thought you have.

5. "I don't know what I'm going to do with my life."

None of us are truly certain.

6. "Please stop asking me if I have a job yet."

I understand that you're asking because you care, but it really stresses us grads out.

7. "Maybe I shouldn't have had all that pizza and beer."

But when beer is the cheapest option at any bar, who can blame you?

8. "I have gone from undergraduate to unemployed."

In a matter of walking across a stage and receiving a piece of paper.

9. But at the same time, "I don't have to wear real clothes."

The process of job-searching and taking breaks from job-searching involves PJs and no need to shower.

10. "I'm broke."

The grad party checks do come in handy though.

11. "Is it still socially acceptable to play my freshman pregame playlist?"

"Shots" and "Truffle Butter" are anthems.

12. "Should I put some of my 'habits' to rest?"

Maybe next week.

13. "When should I start paying off my loans?"

Gulp.

14. "No more homework!"

EVER AGAIN! (Unless I decide to get my Masters.)

College is not the real world, but it helped to form the person you are now, ready to take on the real world. I will never take any of the friendships, bonds, and relationships I've made at school for granted.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
