Travelling in New York as a non-native is certainly an experience in and of itself. There are so many intricacies, especially for someone who hails from a city where local transit is not the first option (or the easiest). I've recently had to travel around NYC for work, and let me tell you; it is a bit wild to a properly acclimate. Here are some thoughts I've had while walking and attempting not to be lost around the big city.
1. Good lord it is HOT.
2. Oh my god this is hell....
4. So much humidity I can’t believe it
5. I am a puddle.
7. Okay finding my way around.. numbered streets seem easy.
8. Aaaand I just walked about half a mile in the wrong direction to find myself at 5th and not 7th
9. Okay lets do the subway instead...
10. WELL THAT IS A SMELL I WAS NOT EXPECTING!
11. HOW IS IT HOTTER DOWN HERE!
12. ACTUALLY DESCENDING INTO HELL RN!
13. Alright lets grab a metrocard, that’s easy enough.
14. And swipe through! Wait.. no it didn’t work..aand swipe! Goddammit lets try again okay and SWIPE.
15. Where do I go?
16. Where am I going17. What do I do
18. Google transit maps please help me...
19. Towards coney island?? Is that right??
20. Okay I think I found the right one!
21. No where to sit that’s fine I’ll stand- JUST KIDDING I ALMOST FELL
22. God I need to work on my balance....
23. Okay I’m going the right way!
24. Is there a reason people feel the need to have loud conversations on public transit? Because I don’t really care about your life...
25. Here’s my stop…can someone let me OFF!
26. MOOOOOVE!
27. Go go go go go go go!
28. I’m out! And where do I go....29. This way! I was right!
30. ITS HAPPENING. I TRAVELLED SUCCESSFULLY IN NEW YORK!
