The GRE (also known as the Graduate Record Exam) is the required admission exam for most graduate programs. To get into undergrad, we all had to take either the SAT or ACT. If you are like me and aren't a good test taker, standardized tests are a form of pure torture that send shivers down my spine. As someone who is studying for their GREs, I find myself in situations that all grad school-hopefuls know all too well.
1. OK. All I need to do is sit down and concentrate.
2. I have to pay $200 to get my ass kicked?
The GRE costs between $160 to $190 just to sign up.
That is, if you are lucky enough to only take it once.
3. I'm good at vocabulary, I'll ace this part!
*Takes practice test*
.... Never mind.
4. The math section.
5. This will be just like the SATs! I'm older, so I must be smarter.
*Gets to first question on practice test*
.... Nevermind.
6. I wonder if I can get into grad school with terrible GRE scores?
7. *Googles how to get into grad school without taking the GREs*
Happy studying. See y'all on test day!
