Ahh, summer, time for pool days, tan lines, ice cream and of course family reunions. If your family is anything like mine this is not just your typical home from college, getting to hang out with mom, dad and the occasional sibling or two, it's an event that pulls together your ENTIRE family for a day filled with lots of hugs, continuous answers to all the “where do you go to school?” and “what’s your major” questions and probably lots of yelling. Just a few things that might go through your head at any given moment while you're surrounded by 100 of your ‘closest’ relatives.
1. There is no way all these people are related to me.
2. So, you’re mom’s grandmother’s brother’s daughter’s husband?
3. I can't hug another human.
4. SO MUCH FOOD.
5. Who's baby is that? I want to hold it.
6. No, I’m not married, I don't have a boyfriend either, but I do have a dog.
7. There better be some fun drama to watch.
8. We are not going to fit in one picture.
9. I’m going to need a nap after this
Family reunions teach us that no matter how crazy, dysfunctional and embarrassing our family is they are the most important people in our lives. Coming together to reminisce, share stories and just be with each other is something that you will remember forever (or wish you could forget).
