Alexander Hamilton. A founding father, an immigrant, a promoter of the U.S Constitution, Federalist Paper author and much more.

"Hamilton." A musical based on the life of Alexander Hamilton written by Lin- Manuel Miranda an award-winning writer, actor and composer.

What do Alexander Hamilton and the musical based on his life have in common? Well, the main thing is that they are both revolutionary. Literally and metaphorically.

Due to the insane popularity and incredible reviews the Broadway musical has received, PBS aired a special documentary called “Hamilton’s America” on Friday, October 21, to let people know what exactly "Hamilton" is about. This documentary also let fans of "Hamilton" get an inside look on some performances, and behind the scenes extras that shape your idea of creativity and pure genius. In this documentary you get to see the moving story behind Alexander Hamilton’s story of starting from less than nothing and writing his way to the top, the special was moving, interesting, and downright entertaining.

I may be biased considering I do jam out to Hamilton in my car, working out, doing homework, basically whenever I have the chance. I do notice the word Hamilton more now and have taken a keen interest in whenever I hear the words Alexander Hamilton in my surroundings (which is very seldom). The documentary was definitely marked on my calendar, and here were some of my thoughts while watching. If you watched it as well, you have a very high possibility of being able to relate.

This may be dramatic, but hey what is a musical without some drama? If the Founding Fathers can be dramatic so can I.

1. I never thought this day would come, but I am now a fan of Alexander Hamilton.

2. If say that out loud to a non-Hamilton fan that may sound strange… Very strange.

3. *Sigh* I wish I could see it live. Welp, time to sell all my belongings for one Broadway ticket.

4. Lin- Manuel Miranda is a gift to this world and no one shall ever harm him, or else they will get a phone call and a strongly worded email from me.

5. Awh, Hamilton was looking for love, I hope he finds the girl of his dreams.

6.*10 minutes later* Alexander Hamilton literally fell in love with two sisters. I said “girl” of his dream not “girls.” C’mon, Alexander.

7. He wrote everywhere even while riding on a horse. I have so many questions. How? Why? How did your pen have ink?... On the back of a horse? I know you are not using a Paper Mate pen over there bud. How were your words even legible?

8. The musical took almost 5 ½ years to write. That is precisely how long it will take me to learn all the songs.

9. The cast learned all the songs in a week. Round of applause for that, honestly.

10. Did the cast enjoy wearing the colonial boots? They look like a pair of my riding boots... I dig them.

11. Jonathan Groff, was your King George wig itchy?

12. *Watches documentary once* I now know everything there is to know about history.

13. Angelica, you gave Alexander away. Help your sister out. Literally, SHE IS YOUR SISTER.

14. Leslie Odom Jr. could sing about thumbtacks and I would still think it was beautiful.

15. Why does Lin-Manuel have better hair than me?

16. ALEXANDER HAMILTON AMERICA, SINGS FOR YOU.

17. The fact Alexander Hamilton tells Aaron Burr he has receipts on him. Talk about having beef am I right?

18. The constitution over the Declaration of Independence ANY day.

19. Michelle Obama tweeting Hamilton lyrics makes me unbelievably happy.

20. Is Lin wearing jeans at the White House?

21. Yes, yes he is.

22. I want to be in the Room Where It Happens.

23. Wow I actually know quite a few of these songs.

24. Well, I have been listening to the soundtrack for 4 weeks straight.

25. George Washington trusted his colleagues to carry on his American Experiment....Talk about true friends.

26. Seeing Lin and Leslie giggle while reading an original Hamilton artifact is like two children talking about a new toy.

27. Looks like I "stan" Alexander Hamilton. Whoopsy daisy.

28. History is getting 20x cooler as this hour and a half special goes on.

29. I will never look at a $10 bill the same again. How's it hanging, Alexander?

30. "Hamilton" deserves every award that it has ever been given.

31. Lin- Manuel Miranda and the cast of Hamilton. You are all a gift. Thank you.

You may hear about the musical in passing, in nearby theater programs, on social media and so on. But until you listen to it, you are missing out on an incredible story, and an incredible soundtrack.

Thank you to the Hamilton cast for making a Founding Father’s story come alive, and making you realize that we all may have to fight for what we believe in sometimes. Never throw away your shot to do so.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
