Let me just say it, I love award shows. I think it's so fun to see all of my favorite celebrities in one place celebrating all of the great pieces that came out throughout the past year. The Golden Globes on January 8th certainly did not disappoint. Here are some of the thoughts I had while watching this stellar award show.

1. I've heard of none of these movies so far and I think I know only half of the shows. I watch TV all the time, I don't understand.

2. Jimmy Fallon is hilarious and actually kind of cute in a strange way. Is that weird to say?

3. These accents are making me swoon. Even the old bald guy with the glasses.

4. Clearly, the biggest trend tonight is the deep V dress. I could never pull that off. #flatchested

5. Rachel Bloom stuffing her face with cake as they announce nominees is literally me always.

6. Wow, I should go see "La La Land"…

7. So. Many. Sparkles.

8. Tracee Ellis Ross, you go girl.

9. Omg Aaron Taylor-Johnson thanking his wife and kids is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I’m crying and I didn’t even know who this guy was five minutes ago.

10. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are literally relationship goals. Just look at them!

11. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are in a close tie. As well as John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, because how not?

12. *fingers crossed* chants “This Is Us, This Is Us, This Is Us come on...”

13. Are you kidding me, how has "This Is Us" not won yet?

14. Carrie Underwood looks like a bouquet of flowers...but she's gorgeous nonetheless and she probably smells great, so whatever.

15. Okay, yeah, I REALLY need to see "La La Land."

16. Viola Davis is hands down the baddest woman in the game.

17. I think Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn are trying to be funny, but they just sound drunk. I don’t get it.

18. Heeeeyyyy Ryan Gosling…

19. Oh my God, Ryan, you’re making me cry.

20. RYAN STOP IT, I’M REALLY CRYING.

21. Emma Stone is my spirit animal.

22. They’re making another "Despicable Me"..? Is that really what the world needs right now?

23. But, Kristin Wiig and Steve Carell are hilarious, so I get it.

24. Why don’t I have a British accent yet?

25. Is Meryl Streep actually going there right now…?

26. SHE WENT THERE. #MerylForPrez

27. Seriously, what’s with all the beards? Even you, Chris Pine? Ugh.

28. Wow, these actors are real, just like me. Maybe my first job of serving hot dogs and nachos will get me to the big screen too.

29. How is Damien Chazelle a director? He looks 17 years old.

30. Mandy Moore is FLAWLESS.

31. Emma Stone has come so far from "Easy A." Thanks for being amazing, creative, and inspiring.

32. I would probably attack Leonardo DiCaprio and kiss him if he gave me an award too.

33. How much do you think that bottle of Rosé in the middle of the table costs? Asking for a friend.

Parks and Recreation excitedly gathered around a laptop at a table in an office setting.

The library. Club lib. The place every college student goes when they want to try and be a productive member of society. Who better to explain your experience than Parks and Rec?

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
