26 Thoughts You Have While Traveling In An Airport Alone

There’s something about traveling in an airport alone that’s much more stressful yet, at the same time, much more relaxing than traveling with others. When you’re alone, you may get a bit stressed about what to do, when to do it, and how to do it correctly without looking like a complete amateur--even if you've traveled alone many times and actually know what you're doing. It's always nice to have a little back-up in case, on the off chance that you board the wrong plane or get lost. Plus, it's nice to have someone to sit next to on the plane. But when you’re alone, you can take pride in your independence while striding through the airport in style. You can indulge in a cup of coffee alone, read a magazine in peace, listen to music, and pretend like you're a pro-traveler/celebrity on your way to board a private jet to an exotic resort. Whether you hate traveling alone or absolutely live for it, here are 26 thoughts that may run through your head when you travel through in an airport alone.

1. Wow. I feel like such an independent adult.

2. I made it to ticketing. Look at me go.

3. Yes, my ticket scanned! I know I paid for it, but it’s 2016--even the simple things are bound to go wrong.

4. I successfully checked my bag. Time to celebrate with Starbucks? I think so.

5. I should wait until after security.

6. Head up. Eyes forward. Walk with a purpose to security. And that’s where again...?

7. Ugh, this line is so long.

8. It’s fine. I’m fine.

9. Why is that security guard looking at me? I didn’t do anything wrong!

10. Oh, it’s my turn. Do I look like I know what I’m doing?

11. Time to remove all of my belongings as fast as I possibly can.

12. I don’t feel rushed, pressured or overwhelmed at all!

13. Life would be much easier if I didn’t need so many dang bins to put my stuff in.

14. I always feel so weird going into this body scanning machine.

15. I feel like I’m about to be teleported to the other side of the world or into a different dimension.

16. Imagine how disgusting this airport floor is. At least I'm wearing socks.

17. Yes, I’m clear. Time to rapidly grab my belongings so I don’t hold up the line. Everyone should really get on my speed level.

18. Now, I can relax.

19. Where is the Starbucks?

20. *Finds out the only Starbucks in the airport was before security*

21. And, 2016 strikes again!

22. Seriously, though, whose brilliant idea was it to place the Starbucks before security? Just give the people what they want!

23. I hope someone annoying doesn’t sit by me on the plane. In an ideal world, no one would sit by me at all.

24. Oh, this is a completely full flight? Joy.

25. Time to board. Let’s go! Let’s go!

26. Alright, I got my window seat. I have my magazines, headphones and snacks. Time to sit back and enjoy the flight.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
