I'm from a small town, which comes with some unique features on its own. Moving to a bigger town for college has been really fun for me, allowing me to experience what it's like living in a place that actually has stores and restaurants to go to. My world is rocked a little more when I go to even larger cities, whether I'm going to a friend's house, on vacation there, or just passing through.
Here's just a sample of some of the thoughts that have run through my mind when I'm not cooped up in my small hometown.
1. I’m pressing my face to
the window taking everything in, like I’m in a movie or something.
2. I’m already lost.
3. How does anyone learn
their way around?
4. Who knew that so many
people could live in one place?
5. I’ve lost track of the
number of restaurants I’ve seen.
6. Is this the same Starbucks
we went by earlier, or is this a whole new store?
7. How can someone live here
and not be overwhelmed by all the options?
8. If you ate at a new
restaurant every day, you could probably go several months without repeating
any.
9. It must take several hours
to walk from one side to the other.
10. I doubt that anyone ever
walks anywhere; they have Uber here.
11. I think if I were to name
any store that has ever existed, this place probably has five of them.
12. People who live here will
never understand the annoyance of having to drive 15 minutes to another town
just to go to Walmart.
13. And to think that to some
people, this city is small.
14. I’ve only been here for a
day and I feel so privileged.
15. My hometown is going to
feel so much smaller after this.
