5 Thoughts All Former A&M Students Have

What do you mean I can't sit in the student section now?!

5 Thoughts All Former A&M Students Have
Megan Bradow

It's been literally ONE MONTH since I graduated from Texas A&M and I already miss College Station... this could be a problem.

It's one of those things that you don't realize how amazing somewhere and something is until it's gone. I thought that I knew how much I loved A&M when I was there, I thought I appreciated every game, every tailgate, every Midnight Yell... but I don't think I truly realized how special they are until I had to move back to Houston and say goodbye to it all. Now, seeing all my friends posting about going to games and being on campus, my heart aches with longing to be back in my home away from home. I know I'm not the only alumni who is dying a little on the inside watching everyone else cheer on the best team in the SEC (I don't want to hear your negativity).

So here they are, the ten thoughts that continually cross my mind, and I know to cross the mind of every other new alumnus.

1. "It's just not the same..."

Giphy

Yes yes yes, I am aware you can watch Aggie football on TV. No, it is absolutely not the same thing. There is NOTHING like seeing a game live from Kyle Field. It's honestly just disappointing watching it on TV from home. You tend to look a little crazy doing the yells by yourself in your living room, but maybe that's just me.

2. "How do you start a professional email?"

Giphy

Seriously. I have no idea how to start an email with any word other than "Howdy"... You would think they would eventually like wean us from the word but I actually use it to start every professional email. I mean my resume says I graduated from TAMU so hopefully they understand... I can't help myself.

3. "What do you mean no t-shirt Tuesday?!"

Giphy

So apparently in the "real world" you don't get to wear your frumpy t-shirts to the bar district... I'm honestly upset by this. I really looked forward to drinking without having to put on make up... This is something I TRULY didn't know how much I appreciated until it was gone.

4. "I miss Gig 'Em week"

Giphy

First off, YES IT IS CALLED GIG 'EM WEEK. Anyone who disagrees can take their new army somewhere else. Anyways, in the real world, they don't give you one last week to get drunk before the real work starts. They just start giving you work. Let me tell you, not nearly as fun.

5. "I want to go home"

Giphy

I love being home and closer to family, don't get me wrong. But part of my heart never left College Station and I will take every possible opportunity to go back to my home away from home!!

Texas A&M, you are loved, you are missed. I can't wait until I get to come back to Aggieland.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.

From sea to shining sea, the United States was uniquely positioned for an incredible Aurora Borealis display on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, going into Friday, Oct. 11.

It was the second time this year after an historic geomagnetic storm in May 2024. Those Northern Lights were visible in Europe and North America, just like this latest rendition.

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Because no one ever really leaves.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
