Thoughts Since I've Been Home

The most frequent thoughts that have been popping into my mind since being home from school.

Thoughts Since I've Been Home

Now that I've been home from college for about a week, I have noticed the same few thoughts coming to me every few days.

1. "I miss my friends."

Since being home, I haven't been able to see my friends from school as much as I'd like to. It definitely makes it harder to hang out when they don't live a couple steps down the hall anymore. It especially sucks when I have nothing to do and my first thought is to walk down the hall, only for me to realize that we're no longer at school.

2. "There's nothing to do in this town."

When we're at school, we're accustomed to constantly having something to do, especially on those weekend nights. Whether it was trips to the OP or one of the numerous house parties, there was always a place to walk to on weekends. Being home reminds me of how much less there is to do here than at school.

3. "I've never been so happy to just lay in bed..."

After spending an entire semester in a twin sized bed, returning to my queen sized bed has never felt better. I think I might be in love.

4. "Real food and no shower shoes?!"

Being home has some great benefits. For one, I don't have to wear flip flops every time I want to take a shower. Two, I get a home cooked meal every single night and don't have to walk to the dining to get some form of Mexican food anymore.

5. "What am I going to do with all of this free time?"

During the semester, the majority of our time is spent studying or doing other forms of schoolwork. Now that classes have officially ended and grades have been posted, there is nothing for us to do in regards to school until August. Oh, the possibilities...

6. "I've been living away from home for almost a year now. I'm my own boss."

One of the biggest issues that students have when they come home for the summer is accepting the fact that, even though we've been on our own for a year now, we have to abide by our parent's rules. Even if we don't agree with them.

7. "I can finally drive again!!"

I personally don't have a car at school, and those of you who do, consider yourself lucky. I've never been more excited to simply drive a car.

8. "I need to find a summer job."

With all of this newly found freedom, I have decided that it is necessary to find a job for myself and begin saving money for next semester. Plus, how am I going to get through this entire summer without some money for myself?

As much as I miss being at school and living down the hall from my best friends, I've never been so happy to enjoy being at home. Happy Summer!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
