12 Thoughts Every SHU Student Has About JP’s Diner

As all Sacred Heart University students should know by now, we've got a new diner on campus (and it's the first ever on-campus diner in New England.) It's a pretty big deal both amongst our SHU community and in the general buzz of up-and-coming universities. Sacred Heart is getting itself on the map, and JP's Diner is another fine example of the changes occurring.

So naturally, everyone on campus has been talking about the diner this semester, and especially since the diner recently held its grand opening. But there's one problem: the diner isn't actually open yet. The school is still putting together all the finishing touches on making sure the diner is ready to operate successfully, and until the day this happens, SHU students have been - and will be - doing a lot of thinking about it. Here are 10 thoughts every SHU student has about JP's Diner as it's preparing to open:

1. It's not open yet? But what about the grand opening?

No, not yet.

2. I may or may not have walked over there for dinner the night of the opening thinking they were gonna have food

Oh what? No, no, I was just taking a casual stroll around campus!

3. I definitely wasn't the only one "taking a stroll" that night

We all thought the same thing. And that's okay.

4. So wait... when is it opening?

The math just doesn't make sense.

5. Wait look at how retro it is!

It's like Riverdale up in here!

6. They put a diner next to the Pitt.

Freshman 15, here I come (again).

7. What are they gonna serve?

Burgers? Fries? Shakes? Pies? Yummmmmm!

8. This is gonna be our new Linda's, isn't it?

JP's won't be complete without all our favorite Chartwells staff members.

9. Are they going to take SHU dining dollars? Why are we so confused about this?

Of course they are. Why would they open an on-campus diner and not let us use our meal plans there? I'm pretty sure the sketchy Chinese restaurant down the street takes our meal money.

10. Are the milkshakes gonna be good?

We already know they're gonna be pricey - but are they gonna be good?

11. This diner better open soon because I am HUNGRY

You're hungry too? Okay, yeah, let's go get Linda's.

12. So am I ready to replace my 2 am Linda's with 2 am JP's?

The answer is yes. Definitely, yes.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.

1. You're tired of school food and have resorted to surviving off junk food and cereal.

2. Your financial aid/money is running out...and chances are it all went to textbooks and takeout.

Zimbio

Ah, Ms. Chanandler Bong, or Chandler Bing as he is better known as. For 10 years, Chandler brought us many laughs, many tears, and, well, Matthew Perry's fame. He is, personally, my favorite character on "Friends" because he made me laugh more than any other character on the show and I felt like I could relate to him more than the other characters on the show. Anyway, here are 10 Chandler Bing quotes that anyone can relate to... or graduates can at least...
