Thoughts You Have At Senior Events

You're in your fourth year of college. You're at the home stretch and you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Time to celebrate. What better way to celebrate than with all of the school-sponsored senior events. Whether it's a pub night/bar night or a dance, senior events are a great place to connect with people you haven't seen in years and to see people you didn't even know went to the same school as you. Basically, these events are a strange mix of awkwardness, celebration, and melancholy. But before these college times come to end, just know you are not alone in your senior night experiences.

1. When you first enter the senior event

The party has arrived.

2. When you see the "free" food

Must get my tuition's worth.

3. When you see lots of people around you openly drinking

Remember the days this was not socially acceptable.

4. When you remember you have to pay for your drink

Why can't everything in life be free?

5. When you spot the photo booth

Must assemble all the friends.

6. When you see your freshman year friends

Spotted. Now time for a reunion.

7. When someone gives you a hug but you can't remember their name

Can I buy a vowel, please?

8. When someone asks you how senior year is going

Today has been pretty okay. Haven't had a mid-life crisis yet.

9. When someone asks you what you are doing next year

I have an outline of what I want to do.

10. When you ask people these same questions

Wow, you really seem to have your life together.

11. When you see a group of people you have never seen before in your life

Do you even go here?

12. When the DJ plays your song

No more small talk, it's dancing time.

13. When you get the free senior swag

I love free stuff!

14. When you walk home and see all the freshman just heading out

Yeah, I'm too old for this stuff. Time to Netflix and chill with my bed.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
