Thoughts While Packing For Vacation

The most wonderful time of the year has arrived, summertime! You finally get a break from all of the hard work you put into the school year and get to trade in your textbooks and pencils for bathing suits and the beach! What’s even better than having nothing to do but Netflix and chill is vacation, and whether you go on one a year or 20, we just never seem to be able to nail down the art of packing. Here are some thoughts you’ve had, and will definitely continue to have, while getting ready for your next vacation.

1. Woo, vacation!

“T minus 8 days”

“I should start working out now”

“Oh look, ice cream”

2. List making

“Sunglasses, check”

“Book that I’m never going to actually read, check”

“Floppy hat that is way to classy for Ocean City, check”

3. Break #1

“Wow that took 15 minutes”

“Time for a well-deserved break”

4. Staring at closet

“Why can’t my clothes pack themselves”

“Why has no one come up with that invention yet”

“Wow, I could make millions”

5. Start cleaning out closet

“My closet’s so full but I have nothing to wear”

“Eighth grade graduation dress, you have no place here”

*starts making piles of clothes to go to Goodwill*

6. Break #2

“I have no clothes left”

“Perfect excuse for a shopping spree”

"But first, nap"

7. Shopping

“I have no money why am I here”

“Oh look, cute bathing suits”

*buys three bathing suits but nothing that you actually need*

8. Actual packing

“Ok, I got nothing done yesterday”

“Focus”

*begins planning outfits and neatly folds them*

*soon begins throwing anything and everything into the suitcase*

9. Overpacking

“Well, I’m going to be there for six nights, so that means I need 12 pairs of underwear… Let’s make it an even 20”

“All four pairs of these sandals match this one outfit, so I’m taking them all”

“Who knows how I’ll actually be feeling that day, I’ll take every tank top I own just to be safe”

10. Closing the suitcase

“I can totally close it with this overwhelming amount of clothes sticking out”

“Magicians do it all the time”

*lays on suitcase in strange positions so every inch is easily closable*

11. Finally finished

“Ok, now I’m sweating”

“It’s a wonder how I fit all of that in there”

“Dang it, I forgot my cover up”

12. At your destination

“None of these outfits even match”

“Maybe I’ll learn from this, but probably not”

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
