Okay, so think of the fastest roller coaster you've ever been on.

If you haven't been on a roller coaster in years or you just don't like them, pretend for the sake of the article.

Now I would compare summer to that roller coaster. The anticipation you feel as you get to the top is the same as you get closer to the last day of school. The slow mix of nerves and adrenaline creeping up as you get closer and closer to the very last day of the school year.

Then finally, that day arrives and the roller coaster stops at the very top. Summer is right in front of you.

Now, what are you thinking?

1. "Wow, I've been waiting for this for such a long time. I'm so excited, everyone be excited with me!"

2. "Can't wait for this to be over. I need to get out of here."

3. "Oh no, it ended so fast. I'm going to miss everything about this experience! I'm already fighting the urge to cry."

4. "I am going to be doing it again anyway, so all of this makes no difference to me. Sorry, not sorry."

All of a sudden, the roller coaster moves and you are going down fast. Summer is flying by you at full speed. You might have had plans, you might not have. Every person spends this glorious time off from school differently just like how everyone reacts to a roller coaster differently.

Anyway, as time goes by, what are you thinking?

5. "I'm so relaxed, I almost don't care that it's all going by so fast. Don't worry, be happy, right?"

6. "My stress levels are so high. I thought this was supposed to be fun. Someone lied to me!"

7. "I love this so much. I don't want it to end. Please don't let it end!"

8. "Wow, I feel like I have changed so much over the past couple months...not."

The ride comes to an end as your summer vacation eventually does. When you look up at the roller coaster from the line, you think that's a long way down. Although, when you experience the ride, it feels almost like you missed it. Like you could just blink your eyes and suddenly the ride is over.

Remember, three months of summer vacation may seem like a long time.

When in actuality, it feels like you have practically no time at all.

You're at the end of the ride now. What are you thinking?

9. "Well that was fun while it lasted."

10. "If only I could snap my fingers and turn back time."

I really hope I didn't confuse some of you with the whole roller coaster and summer vacation comparison.

If I did end up doing that, sorry.

Other than that, have a good rest of your summer vacation.

(However long you have left!)

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2023, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.

Christmas is literally so close. We can almost taste it. But there is just one thing standing between you and the big day: FINALS. It's not the studying, lack of sleep, last minute cram sessions or crappy food intake that is the worst... but the fact that you cannot focus because, well, CHRISTMAS. How do professors expect you to focus when Christmas is soooo soon. For all my fellow Christmas lovers out there, I feel your pain.

One of the most dreaded places on campus is the library. Nothing awesome ever happens here. Usually, the only reason you're here is because you've procrastinated so long that the library is the only place you'll actually get stuff done. It gives you this feeling of sadness and impending doom. You have no idea how this is going to go or how long you'll be here, but you do know it is about to be the most excruciating experiences yet. But it has to get done, so you drag yourself to the lovely library.

With each new year comes new goals.

Deciding on a goal can be hard, unsure of what to change for this new year. A new goal for myself is to be happier and take care of myself more. I am a very driven person; so driven that I commit to a million and ten things.
