Moving back into college for sophomore year is filled with mixed emotions. Seeing all your friends back again to talk about all the summer shenanigans we experienced is one of the best feelings in the world. The immediate sense of home is overwhelming. No more ‘ice-breakers” to meet new people, no more walking alone to class and no more awkward introductions. You find who you are in college, and the people who can love and appreciate you are there for every step of the way. Sophomore year is full of new experiences. Living with you friends and having your own space with them is a brand new experience you probably didn’t get freshman year. Enjoy the time you have with them because these next 3 years fly by faster than wind.
Of course leaving your family and friends at home again is never easy, but coming home for Thanksgiving is just around the corner. You family will be flooding you with questions about friends, the “college life” and of course relationships. Quick word of advice, don’t be annoyed by their parade of questions, be grateful enough that they ask and care about your life home away from home.
College is something that we too often take for granted, so enjoy the time you have and make all the memories possible, but don’t forget about the life you live back home, because that is just as important.
