Thoughts Of A College Student Told By The Characters Of 'Friends'

All of us college kids are going through a lot at once and sometimes it all comes crashing down on us. We all have our good days and our bad days. Whether it be about changing your major, studying for exams, going out, or having boy troubles, we are all essentially having the same problems.

Here are some thoughts us students have on a daily basis as told by the characters of everyone's favorite television show, "Friends."

1. When you have a complete meltdown and realize you don't know what you want to do with your major.

Or even worse, you decide you don't even like your major and want to switch out to something completely different. Then you realize you have to fill out an application and be accepted into the new major you decided on.

2. When you've finally come to terms with the fact that you're broke and in dire need of money.

(yes I know this is from "The Office," but I had to put this in).

3. When you realize the only words in your vocabulary are "oh my god" and you seriously need to expand.

OMG I need to stop saying oh my god!!!!

4. When you just want to be loved.

5. When you avoid 8 a.m. classes at all costs.

6. But of course there is always that one class ...

... that only has one section open and it happens to be at 8 a.m. on Fridays. You have no choice but to take it because it is a prerequisite for your major and if you don't take it then you won't be able to take any other classes in your major.

7. ... Yet you still go out every Thursday

8. Then somehow you make it to class the next morning and feel like dying

9. When you somehow get an A on your exam that you didn't even study for.

10. Or if you studied for days but barely scraped a C and your friend that did not study at all got an A.

11. When you realize you have gained at least 10 pounds since school started.

12. When you see a dog on campus

13. When someone you hate shows up at the pregame

14. When your friends start to fight at the party and you are just too drunk to deal with it/go near them.

Or even worse, you start to feel passive aggression and it's super uncomfortable.

15. So you end up making some new friends

... probably in the bathroom

16. When you get a boost of confidence.

17. When your sarcasm is so extreme that you start making loud comments about other people in public

... and you don't realize until afterwards that they probably think you're very rude.

18. When pizza is all you eat.

19. When you are mad at someone

20. When you go to the gym for the first time in a few weeks

21. And when you are just too lazy

"Friends" just gets us college kids.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
