Any college student will sincerely confess that midterms are the embodiment of bittersweet. Although mostly bitter, midterms offer a hint of sweetness that derives from the remembrance that the semester is half-way over, which means a soon-to-be Christmas or summer break. But, before students can delight in some much-deserved rest and relaxation after a semester full of all-night studying and endlessly looking for a table in the library, there is one last sizable academic hurdle that must be accomplished: midterms. College students confront midterm week with a head laden with differing feelings and emotions toward the entirety of education, and while studying for midterms is seemingly less taxing than studying for finals, there are a few thoughts that are encountered by the college population altogether.
.) "It's already midterm week?!? I thought I had more time to get my grades up..."
.) "I guess now I really should start working on getting my grades up."
.) "How is this semester already half way over? Wasn't I just enrolling for classes like, yesterday?"
.) "But at the same time, how is this semester only half way over?"
.) "Are you kidding me? No study guide?! How am I supposed to retain six chapters worth of information in two days?!"
.) "I wonder if I could get away with just going over my notes and not reading all six chapters..."
.) "Okay, so, should I stay up late studying tonight, or should I just get up super early tomorrow morning and finish studying?"
.) "But will I really get up in the morning? Or will I snooze my alarm?"
.) "Ugh, it looks like I'm going to be a late night in the library."
.) "Why are you still assigning us homework when we have our midterm during our next class?!"
.) "What's the lowest possible grade that I can make on my midterm and still maintain at least a B- in this class?"
.) "If I could not have three midterms scheduled to be on the same day, that'd be great."
.) "I need coffee."
