I have always enjoyed honor bands, ever since my first one in sixth grade. Since then, I have participated in at least 15 honor bands of various calibers. At the most recent one I realized there are certain thoughts I and other friends that enjoy these bands consistently have.
1. "I don't really care how this goes, we're missing class for this!"
2. "Wait, who else here plays my instrument?"
3. "Wow, that person sounds really bad."
4. "Wow, that person sounds really good."
5. "Ugh, that one guy is here? I can't stand him!"
6. "Hey, it's that one guy, he's so awesome!"
7. "Oh my gosh, my chair audition was horrible, I'm going to be last."
8. "How did I get this high of a chair placement?"
9. "Everyone else here is so good."
10. "Everyone else here is so bad."
11. "Okay, if I played that instrument I could totally play that solo SO much better."
12. "This music is so easy."
13. "Yikes, this music is hard!"
14. "Is the conductor going to rehearse that section again...?"
15. "FINALLY we can eat!"
16. "Only one more hour until we can go to the hotel."
17. "I really hope people show up to this concert."
18. "I can't wait to do this next year."
