Going back to school is always the same: A feeling of excitement with just a little bit of disgust. Also, a lot of regrets about the way you spent your summer, especially if you spent it with your eyes glued to the TV binge-watching.

The feeling of excitement comes from finally getting to see your friends after months of being apart, but if they were your friends, wouldn't you have seen them anyway?

Disgust comes from realizing all the hard work and studying you have to jump back into the day you walk into your first class. The late night and early morning study sessions were not missed over the summer, and it'll definitely be tough getting back into the swing of things!

Also disgusting is finding out who "got together" over the summer. Even more disgusting is not being able to get the image out of your head.

Then you realize while you're so busy being disgusted by them, you almost forgot you were single the whole summer.

And you realize while they were going on cute, spontaneous dates to B-Dubs every weekend, you were in bed by 10.

But back to the feelings about actual school.

You remember all the great food you'll miss out on while you're away from home, and even worse, you realize what the replacement will be. Dining hall food is interesting, to say the least. After awhile, you actually start to like it a little.

While all of these things are enough to send someone packing and never wanting to return to school, there are some positive things to return to.

You have a reason to go shopping, because of course you need new things every semester. It's common sense.

The world gets better from shopping and so does life. Life also gets better when you're back to living alone. Well, not necessarily alone, but with super cool roomies! You get to redecorate and rearrange a living space that'll be just right for each of you.

With your own place, you get to come in or leave out at whatever time you want. That means those nights out for penny pitchers are back.

Last but not least, the most exciting thing I think we are all looking forward to is football season. Football season is the most fun time in college for many people, especially here in Louisiana. The experience of being in the crowd cheering on your team is exhilarating to say the least. If this isn't enough to make you wish you were back on campus right now, I only have on word for you:

Now let's all get back to studying and getting involved on campus, whether it be a new sport (not likely), a new hobby, a club, or sorority. Just remember grades come first because GPA is forever. Stay away from Raisin' Canes and Taco Bell, and even further away from weeknight kickbacks. Everything is all right in moderation, but you have to know when to say enough is enough.

With these last words, I'd just like to wish everyone well, and let's have a kick-ass semester!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
