Thoughts Every Girl Has During Rush Week, As Told By The Kardashians

As a sophomore in college, I thought I was prepared for rush week as many of friends have joined sororities, so I thought I knew it all. Yeah, I did not. Nonetheless, it was the best week ever! The sense of community I already feel from these girls is more than I could have ever of asked for. I am oh so happy with my choice on rushing Theta Phi Alpha, and I only see it getting better from here on out.

Pro tip: rushing with a friend can seriously make this experience less stressful, especially if you are rushing the same sorority.

1. Define "business casual."

*Looks through clothes* *Realizes all you own is leggings and over sized tee shirts* *Sprints to the mall*

Do I look okay? Is my hair perfect? Shirt tucked or untucked? Heels or no heels?

Pro tip: if you are going to wear heels, make sure it is a chunky heel. And well if you don't, good luck. Do not say I did not warn you.

3. What if they don't like me? Im so nervous.

Chances are they are just as nervous as you if not more. Be yourself, and if they do not like you, who cares. That just means it was not the right fit for you.

Pro tip: don't pretend to be anyone you are not just to get into a sorority.

4. When are they going to send out the emails on if we got invited back for preference night?! I want to know!

*Waits up until 1:30am on the look out for an email* *No email has been sent* *Goes to sleep full of anxiety*

5. Wait what was her name again? I really liked her. Shoot.

Because asking her what her name is again is far too awkward, she literally JUST told you.

*Goes to talk to her again* *Realizes she is not wearing a name tag*

6. I already know what sorority I want to rush, do I HAVE to listen the others on why I should rush theirs? I'm sorry, but it is just not happening.

Arguably the worst part of rush week is being ready to call the sorority you want home, but still having to go through the process of listening to what the others have to say. Be patient, bid day will come.

7. Is it bid day yet?!

*Literally stays up for 24 hours straight in hopes bid day comes faster*

8. HONEY, I'M HOME!

Bid day= best day

*RUNS INTO SISTERS ARMS FOR THE BIGGEST HUG EVER* *FREAKS OUT BECAUSE YOU ARE HOME* *PATS SELF ON BACK BECAUSE YOU MADE IT THROUGH RUSH WEEK*

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
