Summer has unfortunately come to an end and classes have begun. College is a wonderful place filled with fun, friends and food. Before classes get fully underway, we all get to experience the wonderful syllabus week aka a week where we go to class to hear our professors read to us the syllabus and then we are able to leave to go enjoy our friends. Here are some realities that every college student experiences during syllabus week.

1. Reuniting with your friends

2. Going to your first class of the semester

3. Accidentally walking into the wrong classroom

4. "No phones are allowed in class."

5. When the syllabus exceeds more than three pages

6. When the syllabus states that attendance is mandatory

7. And when it says that your final will be cumulative

8. "We're going around the room to introduce ourselves. Please state your name, major, and a fun fact."

9. When the professor tries to lecture during the first class

10. When you get a reading assignment that exceeds more than five pages

11. When the professor assigns a project on the first day of class

12. Contemplating whether or not you will actually need the required textbook for the class

13. Noticing all of the new changes on campus

14. Having to eat in the dining hall again

15. Going out practically every single night because you think your liver can handle it

16. That one friend that never wants to go out during syllabus week

17. Sometimes not even making it past the pregame because your tolerance dropped substantially during break

18. Seeing underclassmen

19. Versus seeing upperclassmen

20. Realizing you have to get your life together once syllabus week actually ends

People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
