As I am entering my senior year of college, a million different thoughts are going through my mind everyday. I can't believe the time is finally here and I know everyone always says the time will go fast, but I never imagined they'd be right. How can four years feel like a blink of an eye? As the class of 2017 begins senior year in a few weeks and finally earns a degree in [insert major here], these are 12 thoughts we all have.
1. Am I really a Senior?
It feels like just yesterday I was a Freshman, walking onto campus with wide eyes and scared out of my mind. How can I be walking on campus as a Senior, without the wide eyes but still scared out of my mind.
2. How did I get to be this old this fast?
Sure, 21 or 22 years old isn't really "old" but at this point it sure does feel like it. No one else on campus is older than me besides the faculty and staff.
3. I'm so sick of attending the same events over and over.
This is the fourth year of attending the same events and I just feel like I shouldn't have to go. Napping sounds so much better than hearing the same speaker make the same speech...again.
4. How do I get one of these job things?
People keep telling me I'm an "adult" now and I am going to have to find a job. You know what no one has told me? How to find one of these jobs, how to keep one or where to start. It's really starting to scare me.
5. Is it still acceptable to party every weekend like I did Freshman year?
Freshman year was the best. The weekends were filled with adventures and shenanigans that are never to be spoken of again because we were young and naïve. So now that I have senior status, is that not okay anymore?
6. Professors should not be allowed to take attendance anymore.
I understand trying to teach the Freshman a lesson about how important it is to go to class, but as a Senior I would really appreciate if it didn't kill my grade if I napped through class a day or two.
7. I still don't know what I want to do with my degree.
People keep asking what I am going to do after college and what kind of job I'm looking for. Personally, I just want something outside of my hometown with a salary and benefits. If not, maybe I'll just beg for money. That sounds good to.
8. I am going to miss this so much.
These past few years were the best years of my life and will never be forgotten. I can't believe my time as a college student has come to an end.
