Thoughts Of A College Student On Summer Break: As Told By Gossip Girl
Gossip Girl

As the summer drags on, college students are working hard to save money, reminiscing on past memories, and antsy to get back to their friends. The summer seems to be going slower and slower each day as we patiently await the end of August. Don't get me wrong, summer is filled with fun times and warm weather, but it's nothing like being back in your element with your best friends. Move-In Weekend where you at...

1. Realizing that your summer job has taken over your social life.

2. Seeing people around, that you tried to avoid in high school.

3. When you try to save money for next year but it just doesn't work out because shopping.

5. Thinking constantly about what your college friends could be doing right now, and dropping whatever you're doing to call or FaceTime them.

6. Being at a lame party at home and realizing how much worse they are than college ones...

7. When your parents ask you on the daily, "Where are you going?" and "When will you be back?" but forget that you know how to handle yourself.

8. When people ask you how college is.

9. Realizing you've got a solid three friends at home that you actually like.

10. When you know you have two more months to go through before you're back.

Summer is a blessing and a curse to all college students...no school work, but that also means less friends, more work, and of course.. rules.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
