Well, it's a late night, which is pretty normal during college. Most of them are spent reading 30 plus pages of a 10 by 12 textbook, but hey what beats that 'used book smell'? This is a different kind of late night because I'm writing this. So one might ask what is it like being a sophomore in college. Let me tell you, it's not that great...
Things are kind of sucky considering when you're a second year, you are more of a freshman than you were last year. Everything literally seems like it is written in a foreign language. Nothing makes sense anymore, and you really are on your own. There is no 'first-year advisor' to make sure you are where you should be, and even when you had one it didn't do much in the direction department. Sophomores honestly have no pull. We have no excuses for our mistakes, "We should know by now" that classes are hard and you always have to teach yourself. Also, it doesn't get easier. Remembering all the parts of a cell and how bird eggs are replicated gets very confusing in you don't even know the definition of Meiosis...
We are the bottom of the food chain. Freshmen are more desirable and haven't created their fate yet. Sophomores are damaged goods; we've already experienced all the thrills of college one time, not much can impress us. We pick last for everything, and most of our classes are really complicated. With two labs and four classes I can't tell you what class I learned the information in, but I can recite it to you...
Nevertheless, we are a year in. If we quit now our parents will think we're throwing our lives away, and if we keep pushing we are almost close to graduating. Only three more to go. This year is almost the awkward middle school years because we are considered old, but our parents still pay for stuff (which I'm grateful for).
Being a sophomore is kinda nice because you already have a social life, but kind hard because of the workload. At least that's my conclusion so far.
