The Life Of A Chick-fil-A Employee

The Life Of A Chick-fil-A Employee

Chick-fil-A is known for its kind, overly happy employees. Some say that Chick-fil-A workers look out for them better than their own family members do. Here is a brief look into how these workers actually feel about their shifts.

Driving to work:

This may be the most dreadful part of work. Who knows what lies ahead? A line out the door on front counter? Fourteen milkshakes on one order in drive-thru? Short staffed? I guess we will find out soon enough...

Clocking in:

You have arrived to work and your worse fear has been answered. Kids running rampant throughout the dining room, babies crying, cars backed up in drive-thru, all the screens are in red, soccer moms yelling at the manager because their lemonade has too much pulp in it... Alright, maybe it's not too late to turn around and go home...

When you look on the set up sheet and see that you and your work bestie are working the same shift:

Heck yes, this day just got a little better

When the bestie arrives:

First thing you do is celebrate and decide what station you two want to try to take over. Window and pusher? Bagging? Headset and barista? Clearly front counter is a no go but serving could be fun! So many choices!!!

But the manager on duty knows that you two are bad for each other, so they make sure that you are far, far away from each other during your shift. Maybe you will learn to play it cool one day...

Now who am I going to talk to about my life problems?

When a cute dog comes through the drive-thru and everyone gathers around to see it:

It is always a big hit and will likely be talked about for the next few minutes after. "Did you see the dog??" "The cutest dog just came through drive-thru, y'all!"

When a bus pulls into the parking lot:

RED ALERT, EVERYONE TO THEIR POSITIONS!!! You will hear at least four people yell "BUUUSSS".

After the bus crowd clears out:

The tea urns are all empty, only pulp remains in the lemonade containers, no sauces to be found, broken cups scatter among the debris of fallen fries, lids, and stepped on sauces.

When you accidentally hit "exact dollar" instead of "$20" and you`re having to do the fastest mental math of your life:

This might be one of the scariest things ever... Especially if you are on window in drive-thru.

When your manager says someone can go home early:

Heeecccckkk yyyeeesss, the only thing better than the day off is getting to leave sooner than expected. Maybe this is why I have never been promoted to be a CT, but honestly, it is worth it every time.

When the hottest human you have ever laid eyes on comes to your register:

I swear I look hotter without these khakis on.... Trying to impress people is almost impossible while you are at work. You're used to acting sweet and innocent to the crowds of older people that come in, so taking someone's order that is your age always gets your adrenaline rushing. You always say "you're welcome" instead of "my pleasure" so at least you look a little more bad ass.

When someone in drive-thru changes their order at the window:

We are five cars in red right now but I have to keep a smile on my face and act like everything is fine :')

When you come back from college to work over break:

When the people hired while you were gone think you are new so they try to correct your methods... Please, you were in like 8th grade when I started working here... But you feel like royalty when all of your coworkers who know you freak out when you walk in the door.

When you are in the last hour of your shift:

You're in the home stretch, just ONE more hour stands between you and freedom.... Make sure all of your closing duties are done, get someone to count your drawer down, and get out of there without making eye contact with anyone. Customers don't know you are off the clock and believe me, they will hunt you down to get their 5th refill or another Polynesian sauce.

When you're finally off the clock:

You have survived another day!! Pat yourself on the back but get ready, more shifts are in your future. (And by that I mean every day aside from Sundays.)

All jokes aside, working at Chick-Fil-a for the past three years has been the best time of my life and I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to serve others in my community through this company.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
