My Thoughts On 'Batman v Superman'

A movie analysis from a DC fanatic

My Thoughts On 'Batman v Superman'
Ross A. Lincoln

Finally, DC films are coming out their shell! Don't get me wrong, The Dark Knight Trilogy was not a let-down, but Man of Steel needed a little work. Now, DC gives us Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. It surpassed my expectations. This article composes my thoughts of the newest film, and I warn you now: there are some spoilers.

After having the fifth Batman in my generation, I had really not given a lot of thought towards Ben Affleck stepping into the suit. However, I recall my previous judgments toward that casting. Batman is amazing, and I honestly cannot wait to see more of Bat-fleck.

All the fantastic references made to the Joker were a great surprise, and if you noticed Robin's suit in the film, it left you wondering on the backstory on that one. Of course, if you have read the comics, you can piece together what may have happened. It does leave me interested in what all we missed on this Batman story line, so I hope we will get a Bat-fleck film soon.

The controversy surrounding Superman is great. This is the main problem that drives the film. Is Superman truly good, or is he inherently a danger to humanity? Being the Batman fan I am, I am completely biased to this question so I will not divulge into this. However, Superman does not disappoint in this film. I was glad to see some justice done to him after Man of Steel. I'm going to leave the conversation on Superman here to not ruin the film for those of you who have yet to see it.

Next up is Wonder Woman. I thought she was fantastic. Of course, Bruce Wayne throws some comparisons to Cat Woman at her after stealing something that was here, which I found interesting. However, they portrayed her so well, but I wish we would have seen more of her! She marches her way into the fighting role to save the guys. It was perfect. When we see her fight, she is such a domineering piece on the board. The movie producers did well introducing a strong female character, to say the least.

I will say this a million times over, but Jesse Eisenberg made the film. His performance as Lex Luther was brilliant. He stole the film for me, and again, I find myself loving the villains of the DC universe. I could ramble and ramble about how great Eisenberg was, but I really don't want to spoil the film as much as I can. Anyway, if you know anything about the comics, I think you will enjoy Eisenberg's performance.

Lastly, I want to hit on the promise of the next films, which I presume are going to be the Justice League based on this film's ending. Jason Momoa as Aquaman has me almost as excited as the release of Suicide Squad. I mean, just look at the justice we finally have of Aquaman.

We also got a peak at Ezra Miller as the Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. I can't wait for the upcoming films. I'm so happy we are finally getting into the realm of DC comics.

Anyway, I tried not to give you too many spoilers, just some character analysis. Despite the reviews the film received, I really enjoyed it. I am, however, a total comic nerd, so it's really hard to disappoint me in these sorts of films (except 2009s Wolverine). I recommend that you see Batman vs. Superman because it truly is what I've been waiting for DC to give us.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
