A common question you get when you go to school 11 hours from home is "how did you get here?". For many students, their home is still where they live while going to school or it is not too far down the road. Being away from home has its ups and downs but I can guarantee that whether you love it or hate it, we all have some of the same feelings
1. When flying home for breaks you try to find the flight that lets you get home and stay home for as long as possible before returning to school.
2. The first thing you start to miss when you leave home is the smell of your room, so basically just your bed.
3. Facetiming anyone at home makes you a little more homesick every time you hang up.
4. Having your parents visit you is like a piece of home here (and maybe your kitchen if food is coming as well).
5. The best thing to receive at school is handwritten mail or a care package with all your favorite goodies in it. YUM!
6. Being at home is always scheduling when you can eat at all your favorite food places in such a short amount of time.
7. You still have allegiances to all your hometown sports teams and no one at your school could convince you differently.
8. Why do time differences exist? They mess me up every single time.
9. I HATE GOING TO SCHOOL AWAY FROM HOME.
10. I LOVE GOING TO SCHOOL AWAY FROM HOME.
The farther I get into my college life, the more I realize how grateful I am for both lives. At home I have my group of friends, my family, and all my favorite restaurants. At school, I have all the same things just in a different town. Being far from home doesn't mean you stop loving home, it just means you have a better appreciation for it every time you head back.
