Coming to college, I feared having an 8 a.m. class, mostly due to the fact that I'm an extremely deep sleeper and can sleep through virtually anything. I'm known to set 8-10 alarms every night and manage to sleep through every single one of them. If sleeping through morning alarms became an Olympic sport, I would definitely take the gold.
I managed to avoid having any 8 a.m. classes the first half of the year, but this semester I ended up with one every Monday morning. Surprisingly, I haven't missed a class [*yet*], but there's never an early Monday morning that these 10 thoughts don't cross my mind when I realize I have an 8 a.m.:
1. "Just five more minutes...!!!"
This gif perfectly encompasses how I feel about hearing that dreaded alarm before 8 AM. So much that whenever I hear my alarm as other people's ringtones that my stomach drops a little and I get PTSD from earlier that morning.
2. "Wait... does this class even take attendance?"
This thought always gives you a faint rush of happiness because this might actually be one of the classes that you don't really have to show up to. So you mentally attempt to go through your last class in your head and try to remember if the professor had you sign into TopHat [yikes!] for attendance points.
3. "Yeah, it does... but how many excused absences can I have?"
Is it just one and everything after that is 1/3 of a letter grade off? Or is 2 absences considered failing...??/
4. "Have I used an absence or should I wait to use it?"
You're torn between an extra hour of precious sleep or going to class and saving that skip for a rainy day. I've definitely sat to ponder this for a good 10 minutes before.
5. "Nah, I should go..."
Rise & Grind! Seize the day! Go to class! Learn!
6. ".... but it's so warm in my bed..."
You probably look exactly like that ^ ^ ^ when contemplating whether or not it's worth getting up at this point.
7. "I can just make up an excuse note..."
Food poisoning? Flu? Got hit by a bus?
8. "Can I pay someone to sign me in?"
Definitely a very tempting idea, but you know you wouldn't actually go through with that.
