Gift Guide: Thoughtful Gifts On A Budget

It's getting close to Christmas, and now is the time when people are spazzing over what to get some of their friends. Not only that, but when you have a lot of friends, you can't splurge on each one! One thing to keep in mind, most of your friends don't want something extravagant--they want something genuine. Gift them something that reminds you of them. Here's a few of my favorite gift ideas for those on a budget.

1. Mason Jar DIY

These can be so easy! Throw in some nail polish, a face mask, chapstick, a Starbucks card, you name it. This is also cool because you can put as much or as little money into it as you would like.

2. Candles for the home

Bath & Body Works holiday candles are always a win. Want your house to smell like the holidays? Gift Tis The Season. Just do it.

3. Spa Remedies

This can be a lot of fun, extremely cheap, and big batches! There are several body scrub, lip balm, and bath bomb recipes on Pinterest. I absolutely love making the sugar scrubs! And they work like a charm. Plus you can make cute labels for them.

4. A Journal & Pens

A majority of my friends are obsessed with journals. Get them a new one! Or if you know they don't need a new one, get them some new pens or a pen they've been wanting for a while. Let their creative side off the leash for a while.

5. DIY Decor

Do you know how your friend likes to decorate? Know something they've been wanting around the house or that they pinned on Pinterest? If you're a crafty person, this can be the perfect option!

6. Baked Goods

Do I need to explain? Baked goods are always an option. Just be sure to check for allergies beforehand!

7. Your Favorite Book

Personally, one of my favorite things is learning what peoples' favorite books are. You can learn a lot about someone by their favorite book! So why not pass your favorite book on?

8. A New Coffee Mug

You truly cannot go wrong with a coffee mug. So they don't drink coffee? Good thing there are chai lattes and hot cocoa in the world. Receiving a new mug is probably one of my favorite gifts. Plus, you could also get crafty with this as well!

9. A Movie Basket

Know someone that's a fan of movies? This is an easy one! Grab a classic/new movie, throw in a bag of popcorn, yummy snacks, and drinks, and you're gifting a movie night package!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
