Thou Shall Not Judge

No one has a right to cast any stones, much less the first one.

Thou Shall Not Judge

In this day and age, we are far too often quick to judge. We judge ourselves, our family and friends, celebrities, pretty much anyone who has or will ever make a decision. Somewhere along the way, humanity has decided that it has the right to be it all: judge, juror, and executioner. Not only is it enough to have an opinion anymore. Society has to force each and every opinion of every single person down the rest of the world's throats. We forgot, however, that there is only ONE person we are to answer to. There is only ONE person who can judge us because there is only ONE person who is perfect enough to do so. Since we've forgotten, here's a few Bible verses to remind us that God is the only judge.

1. Matthew 7:1

"Don't judge, so that you won't be judged."

2. Luke 6:37

"Don't judge, and you won't be judged. Don't condemn, and you won't be condemned, Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

3. John 8:7

"They continued to question him, so he stood up and replied, "Whoever hasn't sinned should throw the first stone."

4. James 4:12

"There is only one lawgiver and judge, and he is able to save and to destroy. But you who judge your neighbor, who are you?"

5. Romans 2:1-3

"So every single one of you who judges others is without any excuse. You condemn yourself when you judge another person because the one who is judging is doing the same things. We know that God's judgment agrees with the truth, and his judgment is against those who do these kinds of things. If you judge those who do these kinds of things while you do the same things yourself, think about this: Do you believe that you will escape God's judgment?"

Nobody is without fault. NOBODY. Therefore, no single person is in a position to judge. It doesn't matter if you think you are better then someone. No sin is better or worse then another. No sin is unforgivable. But it is still not our place to judge. Have your opinion, that's fine, but leave your judgmental comments to yourself.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
