Tomorrow we will be celebrating the birth of Christ. The day filled with gifts, smiles, and memories; for most at least. As an individual so excited for Christmas morning and visiting family we tend to forget those who do not have that privilege to be spending the holidays with their families. The holiday season is one of the best seasons out there. We enjoy coming together and spending time with those whom we may not get to see very often, we get to create everlasting memories that will be in our hearts forever, and so much more.
As I took part of an annual event last weekend, Wreath Across America; which if you do not know, is an absolute amazing event dedicated to those who have fallen, to quote their slogan, "Remember, Honor, Teach." Wreaths Across America takes place every year in December across the entire United States. Thousands of people come together to lay wreaths to remember those who fought for us. If you have never heard of it I encourage you to take the time to look Wreaths Across America up. This year was my second time participating. We had so many people come out and take part this year. 720 wreaths were laid down at Antietam Battlefield, one of many battlefields who have wreaths laying inside.
This past week I have thought a lot about those who have fallen and those who are currently out there protecting us instead of being able to spend Christmas with their loved ones. So I want to take a moment to thank those who cannot be present for Christmas. I have so much gratitude and appreciation for every single man and woman who are giving us the opportunity to have a safe and secure holiday season with our families. It takes someone who is selfless and nobel to give up holidays, birthdays, births of their children, and so many other milestones in life for our country. Your sacrifices will never be forgotten in my eyes.
I ask that as you open your presents Christmas morning or as you are sitting, enjoying your Christmas meal that you take a moment to pray for those who are making sure we have freedom and safety.
Merry Christmas to all the men and women out there serving. I salute to you.
