For Those Serious About Moving To Canada

How to no longer be a citizen of the United States under President Trump

For Those Serious About Moving To Canada
CNBC

I'm writing this so late after the election because I still see people saying they're going to move to Canada. Well I've seen the same thing for a little over a month now so I guess you just don't know the process.

Although this process will take years I'm assuming you don't mind because whatever will get you out of America right? Since it's so horrible living in a free country I did the work for you. So here's the steps.

1. To apply for citizenship you must be at least 18 years old.

So for all of you underage teenagers who are rioting and complaining for no reason even though you didn't even have a say in this election go sit down and wait till you can vote.

2. You have to prove that you know and can write one of their languages (either English or French).

If you were born and raised in the US and were taught proper English then this step is no problem. Moving on.

3. You must be a Permanent Resident or PR and declare that you plan on staying in Canada after you become a citizen.

Meaning you don't plan on moving just cause someone you don't like is elected. For those struggling to understand this step look up the definition of "permanent."

4. You have to have lived in Canada as a PR four out of the six years before you can even apply to be a citizen.

That is 1,460 days!

5. You have to be in Canada at least 183 days of each year during the four year period.

So to be fair you don't "have" to be there every day for four years but you hate America so much so why wouldn't you be.

6. You have to have filed your taxes for at least four years during the last six years and any income tax you owe must be paid.

7. Now you can finally apply for a citizenship from within Canada.

So again you actually have to be in the country you're trying to be a citizen of. Makes sense though right?

It's a long process before you can even apply to be a citizen. Again, since you don't want to be in America so much, whatever will get you out right? Oh, also you CANNOT apply for citizenship if you have recently been or are in prison, on parole or probation or have been charged or convicted of an indictable crime.

But wait there's more. We haven't even gone over the application process itself. Now from what I've looked into there aren't as many steps but you still have more stuff to do.

1. You have to download and fill out the forms in the "Canadian Citizen Application Package" and include all supporting documents.

2. You have to pay the application fee.

I have no idea what that is but hey you're moving there so you'll find out pretty soon.

3. You have to mail your application to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.

That's not too bad at all honestly. Just paperwork, which everyone loves, and mailing it in. Oh and there's a test. So you have to study Canada's history and such, like you would the US, and pass a citizenship test.

Here goes over everything I just said for those of you who are actually serious about leaving.

If you are actually moving to Canada then by all means don't let the door hit you on the way out. But if you're just mad about the election then I only have one job for you. Go to Walmart, go down the baby isle and pick up some more diapers and a pacifier cause you're just acting like a baby. So what if this election made you upset. Grow up. Accept it. Just move on with your life. There are so many better things you could spend your time on other than complaining. The fact is that you just want a different president, not a different country. Well you moving to Canada isn't going to make Mr. Trump back out of his presidency. It actually will help with population control so again by all means go. It's December already it's time to get over it. And besides, he's only president elect. So yea technically he's not your president...yet.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
