Today I bring to you a discussion on cravings. We all have them and sometimes aren't able to control them. We are set on that food/drink and won't stop until we have it. This my friend, can be quite an issue for us. When we are set on those barbecue, crispy, airy chips and we will not stop until we have them. But that is not it, a few will not cut it. We might need the whole bag to satisfy our craving, but that is why I have brought to you a solution to this problem. The next time you get that craving, indulge in it. Because it will be the last time. After that, the next time you get a craving you are going to follow this step by step process so you can avoid cravings from the start. Here we go...
1. Drink water all day long. Do not stop. Have a water bottle near you all day so you stay hydrated.
2. Eat lots and lots of protein. Wheater it is chicken, beans, peanut butter, protein shakes, eggs, etc.
3. Distance yourself from the craving. Do not buy those salty chips or creamy ice cream. Remove the bad snacks from your desk drawer.
4. Plan your meals. That way you have something to look forward to and you can think about your next meal instead of that craving.
5. Avoid getting extremely hungry. Pack healthy filling snacks for your long days to avoid the craving.
6. FIGHT STRESS! Stress leads to cravings which then leads to poor eating. Fight the stress to keep your body healthy!
7. Get enough sleep. When your body is tired throughout the day from lack of sleep they look for energy through food. If you get enough sleep your body will have plenty of energy.
8. Do not food shop on an empty stomach! I cannot stress this enough. Have a big breakfast, lunch, snack etc. before you walk in that building otherwise, it is game over.
To all my fellow food cravers, this step process has helped me tremendously and I truly believe it can help you too. We all want to look our best and feel our best so why not give it a try and make yourself the best you can be. Steering yourself away from cravings can be very difficult, trust me I would know, but being patient and trying it little by little will go a long way. It is not easy giving up your unhealthy wants but you can substitute those cravings by fooling your mind. Sometimes when we crave those unhealthy cravings it really means were are bored, dehydrated, need protein, etc. Try these steps and I promise you will see a difference in your appetite. Keep in mind this will not happen after one week of trying this, you need to train your body to not want what you are usually feeding yourself. Best of Luck!
