This Is Your Sign
Nike

This is your sign for whatever it means to you. So as Nike proclaims, "Just do it."

Tired of getting up in the morning and not liking what you see in the mirror? Call your stylist and get a haircut. Go to the store and buy a box of pink hair dye. Stop buying take out for dinner and learn to meal prep. Join a gym or create your own path to run along. Join a rec league for your favorite sport, even if you're bad at it. The only person stopping you, is you.

Do you dread going into work because you hate your boss and aren't appreciated enough? Schedule a meeting and negotiate with your boss. Talk about getting a raise because I'm sure you're a very hard working individual. Resolve your differences, you are working on the same team after all. Look for a new job so you can quit your current one. Go back to school so you can get a completely different job. Why spend any more time being miserable? You are in control of how your life goes.

Tell he/she/them/it you love them. That you are in love with him. Sure, there's a possibility they don't love you back. You'll never know until you tell them. Besides, they could indeed love you back. Don't hold your feelings or words inside. Don't live the rest of your life wondering and day dreaming about how things could have played out. Put yourself out there, it's the most you can do. The ball is in their court after that. You get to continue on knowing you did the best you could. If you're lucky, they'll be right alongside with you.

Maybe you're struggling and need to ask for help. Call your mom, your best friend, or your grandpa. Call a hot line for whatever it is you are struggling with. Visit a counselor or a church leader. This is your sign to take back your life so you can live happily and safely.

Maybe you've always wanted to take up knitting but you didn't for fear of seeming lame. Well, here's your chance. Take up knitting. Or take up photography. Or snorkeling. Whatever it is that gets you excited, try it. Perhaps you're always on the go and are burning yourself out. Say no. Don't take on more than you can tackle. There's no more time to waste. You have to do things for yourself.

Things might not work out. You may find that the person you love is completely wrong for you. You might discover you're severely lacking in the hand-eye coordination department. You might make a mistake and waste a few dollars. But you'll never have to waste more time wondering what it would be like to have tried. You might discover you can paint beautifully or that you love to read. Maybe you'll discover that you excel at tennis, but not badminton. You wont know until you try.

I have spent a lot of time day dreaming and questioning whether or not I should do something. I've learned to take a chance on things. Sure, maybe the boy I think is cute won't like me but maybe we'll be getting ice cream next Saturday. It's a fact that I'm terrible at sand volleyball, but why sit out and watch my friends play without me? Without a doubt I will be exhausted at work Wednesday but going out with my friends Tuesday night will be well worth it. Learn to let go and live. Don't let your worries take advantage of you. This is your sign that it will all work out.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
