So if you read this my article last week you would have already known that since I did the American League last week it is only fitting that I do the National League this week. So with that being said and no more further introductions needed lets get this party started and I will give you my predictions for the National League and who is going to be the Division leaders when it is all said and done.
Let's first start off with the National League Eastern Division. Last season this division was supposed to be won by the Washington Nationals who were plagued by injuries and instead the New York Mets stormed the capital (see what I did there.... because Washington is our Capitol? Never mind) and rode it all the way to a fifth game in the World Series and lost to the Royals. Well, that was last year and this is this year. The Nationals are in first but only with a four game lead over the Miami Marlins. Wait? What? The Miami Marlins are in second? Wow, this is weird. Anyways, yes the Marlins are in second but to me it does seem like the Nationals will once again rule this division. Well, Matt Harvey (not dent) is out for the rest of the year. The Mets also have no Hitting right now. And the Marlins are at best a good fit to make the Wild Card race and actual race. My prediction is the Washington Nationals will reign supreme in this Division.
Now lets go a little farther West. In fact all the way to the west coast in the National League West Division. Last season the LA Dodgers won this division by eight games over the then Defending Champs San Fransisco Giants. This year its almost the same story but there is a twist..... its an Even year. Now the first time the Giants won the World Series they won their division. The next time they did the same thing as the first time. And the last time they were a Wild Card team that had to face the Nationals and then the St. Louis Cardinals and the rest is history. And again we are back to a new year where it is an even year and even with all the changes that the Giants have made over the off-season, they still seem a little worried. So by the way there are other teams in this division but none of them are where the Giants and Dodgers are right now. As I am typing away the Giants do have a two game lead over the Dodgers. And with that said my pick for the winner of this division is....
And for the Final Division. The National league Central Division. This league in the last three years had been fun to watch. And for a while it was just a two team race between the Cincinatti Reds and the St Louis Cardinals. However the last three seasons have added two other ball clubs that could have made a huge push if they didnt run into road blocks. I am talking about the Pittsburgh Pirates and finally the Chicago Cubs! The Cubs shocked the world last year when they defeated two of their rivals to get to the NLCS last season. Winning the Wild Card round in Pittsburgh and winning in Chicago against the Cardinals. And as I look at this season standing right now. I see that Chicago Cubs have an 6.5 game lead over the Cardinals and an eight game lead over the Pirates. And if these two teams that were already mentioned want to make into the postseason they will need to kick it in high gear. But that is for another article and in this article I am predicting who is going to win the division this year. S
o without further adew I give you my pick. Drum roll, please... yes, that's right... I picked the Chicago Cubs. I picked them a long time ago to win this season and I am not backing down from it espically when they just picked up Arodolis Chapman from the Yankees. It will help the back of their bullpen immensely.
Well thats it for this week. I have no idea what I will talk about next week but Im sure it will be a dosey. If you would like to hear more about what I think about sports go on Facebook and search for the Mid Day Madness Sports Show.
