Last Sunday, the annual Billboard Music Awards aired on ABC. It aired live from Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. This is the first nationally televised event to be aired from this arena. Ludacris and Ciara hosted this year's music awards ceremony. Last year, Taylor Swift was the big winner, coming out with six different awards. The big winner this year was The Weekend, who won eight various awards. The Weekend took home the awards for Top R&B Song for “The Hills," Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Album for his album “Beauty Behind the Madness" and Top Streaming Song (“The Hills”).

Adele came in second place with the amount of awards won. There were star icons left and right. It’s not usual that you get stars such as Celine Dion and P!nk and Justin Bieber and many others all in the same place together. This was an awards ceremony with the biggest names of music. The Billboard Music Awards wasn’t just a pop genre awards ceremony, there were big names in the country genre as well as R&B.

On the Magenta Carpet, Stryker, Rachel Platten, Laura Marano and Aj Gibson started the interviews and welcomed the stars to this year’s awards ceremony. The first interview of the night on the Magenta Carpet was with DJ Khaled, who gave us some inspirational advice for success. Meghan Trainor was up next for the interview and she brought her brother Ryan with her. Jeremy Parsons, from "People Now," was there to talk about Adele. Thomas Rhett and The Chainsmokers were there to talk a little bit about the other performances and their newest songs/albums. DNCE was there to talk about their double platinum song “Cake by the Ocean." The Go-Go’s were there to talk about their Farewell Tour, as they have been together for 38 years.

Along with the many of the stars who received awards, there were many stars that presented the awards such as Steven Tyler, Wiz Khalifa, Heidi Klum, Kelly Rowland and many other big names.

There were many artists who performed at the awards ceremony, such as Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Blake Shelton/Gwen Stefani, Troye Sivan and one that particularly caught the eyes of millions was Kesha. After her battle with her producer, she came and sang at the awards show; many are calling it a “declaration of independence."

People voted, and their favorite performance was Britney Spears’ medley. Madonna’s performance was a special tribute to Prince. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani performed a song together, as well, making fans of Miranda Lambert not too happy either. There were many singers that were singing at this music award ceremony for the first time ever. For some, such as Troye Sivan, this was their first awards ceremony.

Overall, this year's awards was a very successful ceremony. So many big names and even bigger performances blew fans away. Now to wait until next year’s Billboard Music Awards!

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
