Is it all that simple? Is the world really doomed to hell? In truth, yes, it is. Everything on the earth is tainted by sin and influenced by Satan. That is a fact. But here is the catch: Satan may have influence on the lives of those who allow him to have influence, but God is the ultimate one in control. When we give ourselves over to the fact that we are saved by the death of Jesus, we can not be touched by evil. We as believers only stumble when we embrace the world rather than God. When we open the door for sin, sin will enter. The Bible says two things:
The First is that we deserve hell
Simply put, we are not good enough. Because of the sin which was brought into the world by the failure in the Garden by Adam, there was a separation between us and God. This separation could only be bridged by sacrifice. In order for our imperfection to be forgiven, we had to kill something perfect in the eyes of God.
The Second is that we are forgiven
John 3:16 says that God loved the world and cared about us so much that He sent His son to die for us. In other words, He equipped us with the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus taught us how to live, how to love, but most importantly, how to die. But sin tried to changed that. When Jesus was nailed to the cross, sin thought: "Ha, I've done it. I won. See? He's dead, his blood is on the ground, and his body will turn back to dust." Jesus died. He was put into a tomb. He was dead. But then something miraculous happened: He came back to life! Death lost then and there, and through this ultimate sacrifice of the most perfect being to ever live, we were forgiven. No longer would we have to be slaves to our sin; through the death of Jesus, death was defeated!
So to say that the world is doomed to hell is incorrect. The world is faced with the judgement of God. One day, every last one of us will stand before Him. Only those who have accepted and believe that Jesus is our savior will be allowed in the gates of Heaven. Then God will tell those who rejected Him their judgement.
It is therefore wrong of us to assume that every person who denies God deserves hell. If that is the case, then we are indeed all doomed to hell. But if Jesus forgave us, and He did, then that enables us to live freely. And would you not want to share a message of freedom with those around you rather than a message of judgement? Simply put, it is not up to us to judge or condemn the world. That is the job of God the creator.
Love God, love all. That should be our creed. Only through love will those who are far from God be able to draw closer to Him. Because it is through love that the Israelites were delivered from Egypt. It is through love that the Jews were able to return home and rebuild Jerusalem. It is through love that Jesus was born, through love that He lived, and through love that He died. Not once has God ever done something that did not take place because He loves us so much and is jealous for every ounce of our attention!
We should consider four things when we "confront" someone with the gospel:
Jesus never damned someone directly to hell. The only ones he cast away were the demons that possessed the people, not the people themselves.
Jesus loved everyone. He even loved the Pharisees and those in the government.
Jesus loved the world. That means He died for everyone, of every skin color and ethnicity.
Jesus loved.
Consider that when you are faced with evil. Because the only way to beat hate is through love. Only then can we truly spread the message of forgiveness that is given to us through Jesus Christ.
