After a heartbreak or a big let down it takes some time to get back to yourself. Sometimes you feel like part of you is missing, or you just need to grieve the situation and make peace with it.
You've spent months and months putting valiant efforts into other relationships, friendships that just weren't worth your time. That realization hurts. You realize that no matter what you said or done didn't and wouldn't make any difference. Sometimes relationships turn toxic and it's hard to see things clearly because you're so far in.
And once you're out, you wonder how and why you stayed so long: because it was safe. You felt safe in something you built and were vulnerable in, so you made every attempt you could think of to salvage it, but alas nothing could, because it turned toxic long ago.
You're hurt, and raw and sometimes weak. You cry, and eat your feelings out, and scream, and yell and dance; do whatever it takes to make yourself feel strong and beautiful. Know your worth. Because you're amazing. It's hard for you to imagine yourself being any other way at this point. Take the time you need to pick yourself up and move on.
It's time you find the courage, and put yourself out there. And it's scary, but what do you really have left to lose?
And just maybe, maybe if you're lucky something happens. There are sparks and you get butterflies in your stomach. You smile all the time. Constantly reliving the moments you've spent together. Anticipating the next time you'll see each other. You turn red just thinking about them. And yet, you honestly have no idea what you're doing. But it feels so different. It feels right. It feels a million miles from where you've been.
You question everything: is this too soon? Am I ready? Can I handle this right now? You question if it's normal for you to feel this way. You don't understand why feeling this good makes you so weary; because you haven't felt this way in so long.
There will always be things fighting against what you want. Timing and circumstance are just forms. The timing is never right, so just feel. If something makes you happy or excited and makes you laugh again, let it be felt. You deserve that. Your joy is infectious.
So be brave and allow yourself to be in the moment. You may just feel something you never saw coming. You may feel a million miles from where you've been.
To the person who's got me smiling nonstop, thank you. I can't wait to see what adventures lie ahead.
