It's Okay To Not Be Okay

This too shall pass.

After a fumbling to get your key in the door, you trudge inside and collapse on the couch. Feeling completely out of control, you wonder if you'll ever get the reigns back in line again.

If you needed a sign of reassurance, here it is.

Whether you're falling behind in school, fighting a personal battle, overloaded by work or can't seem to find a solution to a problem- this too shall pass.

You're only human. You often forget this. Though it seems like some battles may never pass, you will discover that you have to continually remind yourself that this too shall pass.

Help yourself out. If something motivates or inspires you, write it down and hang it up. Cover your mirrors in sticky notes so you remember that you are your own number one cheerleader.

Take breaks, you really do deserve them. Go for a run, take a nap, bake some cupcakes or simply watch some TV. You're still only human. You cannot be a fighter 24/7.

Face your problems head on. If you repeatedly avoid the issue, it will not go away. The sooner you solve the conflict, write the paper or do the workout, the sooner it goes away for good.

Get some sleep. If you're staying awake all night to finish things, you will not be awake enough to take on the new day tomorrow.

Help others. Think about how much others have helped you in the past. When you can give back to others for being there for you, do so.

Give yourself time for fun. Go to the party, eat out or see a movie. Life is too short to not make some time for fun activities.

Reward yourself. You finally jumped a huge hurdle, so buy yourself a cookie, a new pair of pants or those snazzy sneakers you saw at the mall last week.

Remember that nothing is forever. People, situations and your bag of McDonald's fries- none of them are forever. Some things seem like they'll never go away, but you must remember that at some point, they must.

When you need a little encouragement, remember one thing.

This too shall pass.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
